Skype Adds Simple Photo Sharing to Its iPhone and iPad Apps

If you’ve been looking for a way to hold “photo conversations” with friends and family as easily as you chat through text messages, Skype has a solution for you. The company has added one of the features requested the most by its millions of users: mobile photo sharing. Upgrade to the latest version of Skype’s iPhone and iPad apps, and you’ll be able to beam your latest snaps to anyone on your contact list without having to worry about things like file size limits or paying for MMS charges.

The apps come with some non-photo benefits as well:

Over the last couple of releases, we’ve started to improve the overall performance of Skype’s mobile apps. The prior release began to make them less battery hungry when running in the background, so you can answer Skype calls throughout the day when they come in. And, as you’ll be able to keep Skype open, you can respond to or send IMs to friends and colleagues all day long. In addition, this latest release improves the app start and the contact list loads even faster, so you can do all the things you love to do with Skype more quickly.

You can download the updates now from the iTunes App Store (just search for Skype), as long as you have an iPhone 3GS or above, or an iPad of any generation.
