Forget business model changes and bells and whistles.
Nothing these days will create as much excitement and sales boost as a price drop.
If Nikon simply slashed their prices, even as a short term promotion, they'd leave everyone in the dust.
And, a whole new wave of Nikon DSLR owners are gonna want more lenses, flashes, accessories etc.
Ka-ching!
Is it really that difficult for corporations to grasp such simple logic?

I'm with you on that. It's an exciting time as a consumer, but as a company, the market is getting crowded with different products and competitors.

Is a redefinition of photography really necessary? I think it's current definition is pretty clear.

I think what he is trying to say is that Nikon needs to reevaluate its business model to see how they should adapt to new technologies and trends. Seems like this photography-oriented company is trying to find its way in a market that is expanding in multiple directions.
