What Do You Do with Your Photographs?

As I stated last week, the poll I posted was based on an article I came across on CNN that said money was the world’s greatest cause of stress. I wanted to see if this was also true for PetaPixel readers, and included other causes of stress listed in decreasing order of stressfulness. Here are the results:

What gives you the most stress?

  • Money (56 Votes)
  • Work (55 Votes)
  • School (22 Votes)
  • Family (13 Votes)
  • Health (11 Votes)
  • Time (26 Votes)
  • Relationships (23 Votes)
  • Death (6 Votes)
  • News (4 Votes)
  • Technology (1 Votes)

Total Voters: 217

Interesting. CNN was right.

Anyhow, back to photography. I received an email last week from Toby L. suggesting that I ask our readers what you do with your photographs, so here goes:

  • Make quality prints (170 Votes)
  • Post them online (477 Votes)

Total Voters: 543

If you do something with your photographs that wasn’t listed as an option here, please do share it with us by leaving a comment. Has anyone done anything super creative with their photographs?

As a side note, I haven’t done a giveaway in quite some time, but will be posting one in the next day or two, so stay tuned!

This has always been a question of mine. Ok, I shoot mostly because I really love doing it. I put them on flickr but then what? Should I make coffee table books? Print/frame all over the house? Don't know…

I'm a photographer for a media outlet, so my pictures end up there usually. My personal stuff goes on my website, with the best ones getting quality printing.

  3. My photos almost always end up in a storyboard. I don't generally photograph with a theme in mind. That usually occurs while post-processing or uploading to Flickr

I realize upon reading this question that even though I do freelance gigs here and there, for the most part, the pictures I take end up hanging out on my hard drives, just waiting for me to return to view them months down the line. I do my best not to just post them online, but to send them to the people involved in them. I find my photos get much more use by friends after I send them out than if kept by my own self. I've considered going back to print out a plethora from the past few months and years, but considering how many thousands there are, I feel slightly overwhelmed and never quite get to it.

  5. We don't make prints of them anymore like we used to and put in albums. We just archive them in an external hardrive and make digital books. As a matter of fact, we are now going through old photos taken with film, scanning them and do the same with it. With digital books, it is much easier (less heavy and bulky) to handle for viewing and fun to look at.

I scrapbook digitally, but I counted that as something creative! But I do print out my layouts and put them in albums and bound books. I way prefer scrapping digitally than with paper, and get far more use out of my photos now!

among the more interesting things: i have had the subject of my photos turned into wood replicas, with one mounted directly over its photo “cousin”… a talented woodworker used six different types of hardwoods, sculpted each piece to match the photograph.

hard to describe, but it (1) takes a long time, and (2) is expensive to do. even so, it's beautiful when done right.

  8. Have been thinking about this for a while now. Besides posting onto flickr and printing one or two for hanging up on my home's wall I was not doing much abt them. One of my friends' then told me he prints and presents it to other friends. Have started trying it and what an idea! There is nothing like sharing! Show your photographs to your 'non photographer' friends, better print, frame and gift it to them! :)

A couple of “Other” suggestions come to mind. I offer my images for licensing via several agencies and also use them to make DVD slideshows.

I just started getting truly interested in photography. So, many of mine have been put online and are used in my art or as sells images to my art.

I composite my photos. Since I take photos of anime figures mostly, my photos are of the fantasy variety, allowing me great creative freedom. Check it out here if you're interested: http://radiantdreamer.net
